Its Not About The Dream, It’s About The Ride

What is the point in achieving those goals and dreams when we lose so much in the process. Don’t be so focused on getting to your destination that you forget to enjoy the ride, and miss beautiful the scenery along the way. Life can be hard, and our dreams may sometimes take a roundabout route, but as long as we have the mindset that it’s not about the dream, but the journey to reach it that matters then we will definitely have no regrets in life!

Many people become so obsessed with achieving success that they forget why they were chasing those dreams in the first place. How many people remember all the things they said they would do once they succeeded? And how many still remember their childhood dreams? Not many. Achieving success should never come at the steep cost of your health and happiness. You have to make a conscious choice to be happy, to live right now instead of at some distant time in the future. Why postpone your happiness when you have no control over your life?

Remember to never forget the reason you started your journey in the first place, the dreams you had and the things you cherished. Refuse to settle for a success that will become hollow once you attain it, for what is the point of gaining the world if you lose your soul?

Here are tips to help you improve the quality of your life, and add value to your success;

  • Take time off to unwind. While chasing your dreams and ambitions, remember to take some time off to decompress and unwind from life’s demands. This may seem like a waste of time while we chase after tight schedules and deadlines, but great inspiration has been known to arise from moments when we take ourselves off the usual day to day life. Let yourself recharge and be energized anew.
  • Mind Your Health. It may seem sometimes that success is synonymous with poor health and sleepless nights, but this couldn’t be more untrue. Many highly successful entrepreneurs who have made it to the very top will attest to the fact that health is indeed wealth! Don’t make a habit of grabbing quick lunches and takeouts for dinner. It’s very important that you pay attention to what you eat.
  • Get Enough Sleep. Believe it or not, you can achieve your dreams and still get the required hours of sleep your body needs to function properly. Stop looking for more time, declutter your life and get rid of unnecessary responsibilities, then stop for a good nap from time to time. There will always be more responsibilities so force yourself to stop if you have to.
  • Exercise Regularly. Exercise energizes your body, improves your health and greatly reduces stress. Form the habit of regularly exercising and your body will thank you.

So discover your purpose, set out to achieve it and stay the course! But also remember to enjoy the scenery along the way.
