It’s the weekend again! A time to de-clutter your mind, rest your body and restore your energy. The reason people are so tired on Mondays is simply because they carry over the stress from the previous week. We all need healing after the demands and pressure from our work, relationships and responsibilities so it is very important to release, restore and restart our systems from time to time.
For the past week I have been so stressed that I’ve spent the last 2 days or so in a daze. Even now while still at work, I can literally feel my brain buzzing and overwhelmingly crowded with all the things I have to do at work at the coming week! So I decided to carry out a few rituals (3 actually) this weekend to help me unclutter my mind and relax my body. The first one is to simply;
Let it All Out.
Find your own way to release all the pent up energy creatively. For me, I intend to write it all out as much as I feel the need to. This weekend will be a major journaling weekend for me. You could choose to express yourself through art, or dancing, or maybe you’ll prefer to seek inspiration outdoors and take photos. Whatever it is, just let it out and feel how refreshing unburdening yourself and clearing up your mind can be!
Next is to Exert Yourself With Some Productive Physical Activity.
At this point, I will advice some exercise or workout as we all know of the rejuvenating effects it has on the body and mind. Or you could choose a complete clean up and make over of your living space – which is actually what I will be doing. Well, more like I’ll be packing up and moving to a new place (which by the way is part of my stress), whatever works for you. The idea is not to tire yourself out doing pointless chores, but to find a good physical release for your pent up energy, exert yourself fully then you go to the third ritual . . .
Lots and Lots of Rest and Sleep.
Guess what I am most excited about doing this weekend? Yes, you got it – sleep. Lots of it! Not every weekend is for getting your grooves on. Sometimes all you need is simply to rest and sleep. There is enough evidence to prove that sleep is the single most important thing you need to rejuvenate your mind and body. So change those sheets, plump up your pillows and be sure to catch up on your sleep this weekend!
