The best thing about a new year is the closure that comes with knowing you are leaving a year behind you (with everything in it) and starting afresh. Closing the records of the past year, no matter if it was great or sad or average, it’s over! And being born again, with renewed energy and spirit, with fresh hope and expectations, ready to go at it again.
I have decided not to have resolutions this new year but instead to drive my life’s wagon to wherever it will lead me;
And so my theme for 2020 is simply to maximize every moment of every day of my life.
To not make demands of life, but instead give myself up to its freedom and spontaneity, experiencing every miracle that might come from it. My inspiration is a particular quote from Mark Twain which reads;
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover.
So, a note to myself, and to everybody stepping into the year 2020 with me;
…Do your best this year to forget yourself, and find joy in all the little things that surround you. Develop an interest in the world (not just your own world), and in life as you see it. Life isn’t just a series of tasks to be accomplished or goals to be met, it also needs to be lived, so let us live while we can, laugh while we can, cry while we can, and go where we can for we have but this one chance.
Cheers to the new year!
